It has been 1 week now that I started my call center job officially. Now, i'm on the production floor, and damn, I love this job! I'm not saying that I hated my previous job as a teacher (a.k.a "Molder of the Minds of the Young"), but the fact that I have all the time for myself - to learn, to have fun, and to grow as a person. Yes, currently, I am fulfilled with my job (don't know months after though). The pay is enough for me to survive independently; my job ends when my shift ends; and I get to realize how to love my work without any angst against my superiors.
The repercussions though are endless...
For one, I miss my family so much. Being away for more than 2 months now has been a bit painful. I miss my wrestling match with my sis, the loudest laughs with my siblings whenever we watch TV, my mom's voice early in the morning just to wake me up for work, my dad's loudest oldies music every sunday, and our family dinner.
Another would be my dear students. I miss all our laughs every recess at the canteen, the faces of the hungry for knowledge each time I introduce a topic (for them I speak an ALIEN LANGUAGE), and the LOLA talk...
I miss Davao that much. My friends, my neighbors, my relatives, the beaches, the LOW-COST giMicks, and DURIAN!!! Imagine, one durian that I saw for sale in Macro costs P750 which is waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy expensive, and for sure it was not that tasty and as delicious with the one that you can easily and cheaply buy in Magsaysay Park or in Durian Park.
I do hope that I can make it big in this new Jungle called Manila (to be specific, Alabang, Muntinlupa City...) So that when I go home to my place, I can say to myself that I have no regrets leaving for a greener pasture.
PS: While I was doing this blog, my team mate who is a tenured one was "y-jocking" me... meaning, she was connected through my headset, so that she can hear everything I say during a call. Added to that, my Team Lead is also remotely monitoring my call, side-by-side with a Senior Specialist... Take note, the conversation I had with a customer was in speaker mode. Luckily, the call was a bit simple and it turned out well... And for the next three weeks, I will be placed in that situation for coaching purposes. Quoting my TL "So that you will develop SOFT Skills that make our Team different from the others". >:P
